Patient Hotel
Welcome to the Patient Hotel Tórshavn.
We do our best to make you feel comfortable during your stay.
If you need help with care or transport, you can always contact the nurse or the reception.
Below you will find information about the hotel and your stay.
Emergency help
If something serious happens and there is danger to life, a serious illness, or an accident, call the emergency number: 1-1-2.
From the room phone: press 0-1-1-2

The emergency number must only be used in real emergencies.
Contact with a nurse
The reception is open from 07:00 to 23:00.
After 23:00, a nurse answers the phone from the duty room on the 1st floor.

The phones are answered 24 hours a day.

You can call other rooms by dialing the room number.
You can also call the room from Denmark and the Faroe Islands – the number is written on the phone.
Practical information
Arrival day
When you arrive at the Patient Hotel Tórshavn, a nurse will welcome you and show you around.
Please note:
Nurses can see your Faroese medical record (Cosmic), but not the Danish medical record (“Sundhedsplatformen”).
We aim to have a welcome talk with you within 48 hours after arrival.
Please tell the nurse when you have treatment or examinations, so we can help you as best as possible.
Our buses
We have two buses – no. 1 and no. 2.
You will receive information and a small card with details about the buses.
The buses run daily to and from the hospitals.
You must sign up for the bus yourself, no later than 18:00 the day before.
Public transpot
You can also use city buses or trains.
The Patient Hotel has travel cards (Danish Rejsekort) that patients and approved companions can use for transport to and from treatment.

Common areas (lounges)
The dining room and lounge on the ground floor close at 23:00.
You may use:
Lounges on the 3rd and 4th floors
The activity room in the basement
On the 3rd floor there is a tea and coffee machine.
Refrigerators are on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors.
You may store cold and frozen food there.
Write your name and date on the food

Meals
Breakfast:
Weekdays: 07:00–09:30
Weekends: 08:00–10:00
Lunch:
Every day 12:00–13:30
Dinner:
Every day 18:00–19:30
Coffee/tea and snacks: from 20:30
The dining room is open:
Weekdays: 07:00–23:00
Weekends: 08:00–23:00
Closed from 10:00–12:00 for cleaning.
At 23:00, the ground floor closes.
The area must be clean, and everyone must leave by 23:00.
If you are in treatment or examinations, the kitchen can save food for you.
Write your room number and how many meals you need on the board in the dining room.
You can also make a packed lunch. Talk to the kitchen staff.
In the evening, bread and cold cuts are placed in the refrigerator for you to take.
You are always welcome to take fruit, juice, and other items from the fridge.
Unfortunately, guests cannot be invited to eat at the hotel.
Special diet
If you need special food (for example blended food or high-energy food), please tell the nurse or the kitchen.
If you have allergies (for example celiac disease or lactose intolerance), a doctor’s confirmation is required.
During Your Stay: Practical Guidelines
Hygiene
Because some patients have a weak immune system, we ask everyone to use hand sanitizer before eating.
Hand sanitizer is available at the entrance to the dining room, and at the self-service area.
Please take a new plate and cup each time.
Keys
You will receive:
A key for your room
A chip for the main door
Please return the key when you leave.
Cleaning and waste
Cleaning starts at 08:00.
Rooms are cleaned once a week.
On weekends, only common areas are cleaned
If you have questions, contact the cleaning staff or the nurse.
If you stay for a longer time and want to clean your room yourself, cleaning equipment can be provided.
At the end of the corridor there is a room with:
Trash bags and laundry bags
Clean towels, hair dryer, toilet paper, and cleaning cloths
The clear trash bag is for normal waste.
All waste must be in a closed bag.
Large cardboard boxes must be folded and placed in the same room.
The laundry bag is for dirty bed linen and towels
Needles and sharp objects must be placed in a sharps container, available from the nurse.
Medicine
If you have medicine that must be kept cold, you can borrow a small refrigerator.
Medicine must not be stored in the shared refrigerators.
For prescription medicine, we work with Øresunds Apotek and Lyngbyvej Apotek.
Please talk to us about health insurance reimbursement before buying medicine.
Medicine can be delivered to the Patient Hotel for a fee.
Money and valuables
We can store money and valuables for you in a safe at the office.
Smoking
The Patient Hotel is a non-smoking area.
Smokers are directed to the smoking shelter on Omøgade.
Alcohol and drugs
It is not allowed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the Patient Hotel.
Apartments
There are 5 apartments in the building.
They are for patients staying longer who need an apartment because of illness.
Departure
Your room must be empty and ready for cleaning by 10:00 on the day of departure.
If you travel later in the day or have hospital appointments, you can store luggage at the reception or in a locked room in the basement.
You may stay in the common areas and eat while waiting.
Please tell the nurse when your treatment or examinations are finished.
Departure i son the same day, or no later than the day after treatment ends.
The reception can help book travel tickets to the Faroe Islands.
Payment must be made the day before departure, or no later than 09:00 on the departure day
Transport to Copenhagen Airport (Kastrup)
We arrange shared transport to Kastrup Airport.
Departure from the Patient Hotel is about 2½ hours before the flight.
You do not need to sign up.
Please inform us if you arrange your own transport to the airport.
Facilities
Baby strollers and high chairs
We have baby strollers and high chairs in different sizes available to borrow.
Bicycles
We have regular bicycles and two electric “Christiania” cargo bikes.
Bikes are in the parking basement.
Helmets are in the room with the strollers.
Contact the reception or the nurse.
Laundry
Cost for washing and drying is DKK 30 per use.
Payment at the reception or to the nurse.
Parking
We have 5 parking spaces for guests.
A parking permit is required and can be obtained from the reception or nurse.
Wheelchairs and aids
Contact the reception or nurse if you need:
- Wheelchair
- Walker (rollator)
- Shower chair
- Shower aid
Please remove the identification tag when using the equipment.
Massage chair
A massage chair is located in the activity room, and it is free for everyone to use.
Please wipe the chair after use.
Exercise room
The exercise room is free and open 24 hours.
Please wipe machines and weights with sanitizer after use.
Activities
The activity room has:

- Knitting machine
- Piano
- Other leisure items
Luggage room
The luggage room is for storing luggage during your stay.
It is always locked. The key is at the office.
Luggage storage is at your own responsibility.
